Sheriff's deputies invading UT campus?

Well, this one does raise a few questions. A prominent Knoxville attorney was cited today on an assault charge in connection with an incident at a Cumberland Avenue fast food eatery. The citation against attorney Herbert S. Moncier came after a probe by the Knox County Sheriff's Office, an agency that has had a years-long public feud with Moncier. However, the incident itself occurred in the city limits and was dispatched to and reported to the Knoxville Police Department. None of those officers are listed as witnesses on the citation. Instead, at least two deputies, including one who responded to the McDonald's on Cumberland Avenue last night, are listed as witnesses. More here. From blogger R. Neal: Bonus: law enforcement jurisdiction controversy. From WVLT: A prominent Knox County defense attorney is facing an assault charge this afternoon after an incident Monday night on "The Strip". We spoke with Herb Moncier and he tells WVLT Volunteer TV News the Knox County Sheriff's Department was waiting for him at the court house around 9:00 Tuesday morning with a citation for assault after an incident at the Cumberland Avenue McDonald's.
