Slimmed-down Saks shows stronger performance in its fiscal Q3

Saks Inc. reported net income of $6.18 million, or 5 cents per diluted share, for its fiscal third quarter, which ended Oct. 28, 2006, compared with earnings of $225,000, or break even on a per-share basis, in the quarter ended Oct. 29, 2005.
