Newcastle joins the 'wireless cities'

Newcastle will join Norwich and Milton Keynes in becoming a wireless city by the middle of next year.BT will install Wireless City equipment on existing street furniture and lamp posts in the city centre which will enable enable people to communicate from laptops and Wi-fi enabled mobile devices. BT will be responsible for funding the rollout of the Wireless Cities Network with all development and operational costs borne entirely by the company. "With more services being provided through the internet, Newcastle cannot afford to be left behind as new technology to improve access to the web becomes available."
