A quick HIV test being considered for sale without prescription is giving wrong diagnosis to many people, leading them to falsely believe that they are HIV-positive, health officials have said. The OraQuick Advance HIV test, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in March 2004 for testing people for HIV, uses oral swabs and gives results in 20 minutes.
