That healthy skin glow may not be so healthy after all, according to Dutch researchers of the University Medical Center Groningen. The study focused on patients with Acute Myochardial Infarction (AMI) and the side effects of this condition. One such symptom associated with AMI is Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), which is characteristic with a flourescent glow of the skin. The Dutch team conducted various studies on 91 AMI patients and 81 non AMI individuals, coming to the conclusion that "enhanced skin autofluorescence is independently associated with ST-elevation MI (Myochardial Infarction)."
