EU Concerned about Vista again
29th Mar 2006, 17:33 GMT
Microsoft has once again been informed by the European Commission that it had competition worries about Microsoft's next operating system, Windows Vista. Microsoft has been battling against the EU since 2004 when Microsoft was fined nearly $600 million. "We are concerned about the possibility that the next Vista operating system will include various elements which are currently available separately from Microsoft or other companies," Commission spokesman Jonathan Todd said. "We assume Microsoft has its own interest at heart and it wants to launch another product without having to worry about the Commission instituting various actions under antitrust law because of this product," Todd told a news briefing. Microsoft has until the end of the week to stop the fine from going ahead and in April the company will launch its appeal against the decision in 2004.
