Penguins fire Olczyk, call on Therrien
15th Dec 2005, 16:16 GMT
The Penguins have fired Eddie Olczyk as coach and named Michel Therrien his replacement. Olczyk is the first NHL coach to be fired since the league resumed play following the lockout. He is also the fourth Penguins coach to lose his job in six seasons, joining Kevin Constantine, the late Ivan Hlinka and Rick Kehoe. Olczyk was axed following a run of eight losses in nine games that dropped the Penguins' record to 8-17-6.
