ABA Coach Jim Boyle Dies of Lung Cancer MLN Newswire Transaction - Philadelphia, PA. Family, friends and the basketball world mourn the passing of Jim "Bo" Boyle following a battle with lung cancer. Jim coached in the ABA during the 2003-2004 season with the Philadelphia Squires but is better known as the former head coach of St. Joseph's University and for his induction into the Philadelphia Big Five Hall of Fame. His college coaching produced two NCAA appearances, two NIT trips and a stint as an NBA assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets. Coach Boyle loved basketball. He lived for his family and friends. As lifelong friend Herb Magee said, "The universe is a loser here. He was a stand-up, first-class guy, the best. You could ask a ton of guys and they would say if he's not my best friend, he's one of my two or three best friends." He is survived by a son, Jim Jr and daughters Kelly and Tracie. "Bo" will be missed. .adHeadline {font: bold 10pt Arial; text-decoration: underline; color: blue;} .adText {font: normal 10pt Arial; text-decoration: none; color: black;} Your Ad Here copyright ©2005 MLN Sports Group LLC.
