Astronomers detect gamma-ray burst at the edge of the Universe

WASHINGTON - Astronomers here claim that they have witnessed the furthest cosmic explosion on record, a gamma-ray burst that occurred on September 4 on the edge of the known frontiers of the Universe. Using NASA's Swift satellite and several other ground based telescopes, the astronomers were able to detect this rare, but fascinating event.
