Ramped up Power
17th Dec 2005, 05:41 GMT
A pretty unique way to power street lights and signs has been developed. The concept is simple-the "customers" provide their own power, in this case motorists drive over a slightly raised ramp in the road, the ramp compresses down, which drives a series of small generators, which provide the power. The heavier the vehicle, the more power is produced. A storage battery completes the unit.
