Lawsuit prompts DOE to improve energy standards for appliances

The U.S. Department of Energy has agreed to set new standards to increase the energy efficiency of dishwashers, ovens, air conditioners and more than a dozen other household appliances in response to a lawsuit filed last year by North Carolina and 14 other states.
