Herceptin proves 'revolutionary' efficacy against breast cancer

The US health authorities have hailed Herceptin as a potential life-saver drug for breast cancer patients after the trial results that were outlined at a recent conference proved very good with the researchers even receiving a standing ovation for their work on the revolutionary treatment. The drug that is used to combat breast cancer in an aggressive form characterized by tumors that have high levels of a surface protein called HER2, costs about £21,800 (US $ 38,500) for a year of treatment and is manufactured by Roche.
