CSC gets $35M FEMA flood insurance contract

4th Nov 2005, 21:19 GMT

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded Computer Sciences Corp. a contract worth up to $35 million to help manage the National Flood Insurance Program. The contract, awarded after a competitive bidding process, keeps incumbent CSC as the FEMA liaison for more than 90 insurance companies that issue federally guaranteed flood insurance policies through the NFIP. As part of the contract, CSC will continue to assist FEMA with actuarial, financial and statistical analyses. The company will also provide flood-related training, consultation, support materials and act as an information clearinghouse. The contract has a base period of three months with two optional one-year extensions. It provides the same services as the existing contract between FEMA and CSC the companies signed in 1999. CSC has assisted with the NFIP since 1983.
