Senate panel gives nod for $1 billion NASA funding

WASHINGTON - The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved additional funds of $1 billion for NASA to help it tide over the costs of returning the shuttle to flight. The complete bill meant for activities focused on for space, science, law enforcement and other federal programs is worth $51.2 billion and is slated to be discussed by the full Senate over the summer.
